Farthing Blueberry Plant Information (U.S. Plant Patent 12,783)
Quick Facts
A Southern Highbush blueberry cultivar with a perfect picking scar that
consistently produces high yields of large berries.
It has
many Windsor features, including a plant that looks like Windsor. While a large, wet
picking scar has been the major limiting factor of Windsor, Farthing has a perfect
picking scar. Like Windsor, the berry of Farthing is large and very firm. Farthing has
been evaluated annually since 1998, and appears to be a high‐yielding, consistent
producer of large berries that ripen about 4 days later than Windsor. Farthing flowers
late compared to Jewel and Emerald. This may make it particularly useful in Georgia
and coastal North Carolina. Growers and nursery operators have been favorably
impressed with the strong bush and high quality berries.
